Formentera gets ready for the all-ages clown theatre of “Italino Grand Hotel”

cartell 2020 italinoSaturday 17 October Formentera’s Sala de Cultura (Cinema) will play host to La Tal theatre troupe’s family-friendly Italino Grand Hotel. The self-proclaimed “company of clowns” cut their teeth with the classics before gravitating in recent years a varying array of characters: notably, a clown with a well-defined personality, a clown whose years hold wisdom, a clown for today’s audiences.

Set in a city hotel abuzz with guests, Italino Grand Hotel trains its focus on one character in particular—one who, apart from housekeeper, janitor, ironer and bed-perfumer, is a dreamer. His dreams take form in the dark, but it is a place that is full of feeling.

Machine speakers offer him his connection to the world: two voices—of other employees at the hotel, who save him from indifference. One offers companionship and humour, the other —tender and full of life— the promise of love. He develops a sense of the world and of life based on the two voices... and may one day see for himself.

Italino Grand Hotel starts at 6.00pm (Saturday 17 October) in the Sala de Cultura (Cinema). Tickets are priced at five euros for children and are free for adults.

Tickets must be booked in advance by sending an email before 10.00am (16 October) to reserves@conselldeformentera.cat.
